“Trailer was great. We took it on a 4,500 mile journey We had some circumstantial issues on the road with the trailer. We lost a few lugs (and almost a tire) so we had to pay $800 for a mobilehub / stud repair in UT Separate from that, we hit some highway debris in AZ and broke a fender and some wiring. We came to a quick resolution with the owner on the repairs and he was more than reasonable. Nice trailer. Tough trip. ”

Choosing the Right Trailer to Rent in San Dimas

Before renting a trailer in San Dimas, make sure it fits your load, towing vehicle, and travel plans. Run through these before you send a rental request:

  • Trailer type. Utility trailers work well for landscaping equipment and general hauling. Enclosed trailers protect belongings from the weather, while dump trailers are useful for renovation debris and property cleanups.

  • Size and capacity. Check trailer dimensions, payload capacity, and loading space to make sure everything fits safely.

  • Tow vehicle compatibility. Confirm your vehicle's towing capacity, hitch size, electrical connection, and brake controller requirements.

  • Loading and unloading. Look for ramps, tie-down points, loading gates, or hydraulic dump features depending on what you need to transport.

  • Weight and brakes. Calculate the total loaded weight, including equipment and materials, and confirm whether trailer brakes are required.

  • San Dimas bulky item collection. The city's waste disposal and recycling program allows eligible single-family residential customers 6 free bulky item pickups per calendar year, with up to 3 cubic yards per pickup. Advance scheduling is required, and construction debris exceeding 1 cubic yard is excluded. Confirm disposal arrangements before loading a dump trailer.

  • Yard waste collection. San Dimas residents with excess green waste can arrange collection of up to 3 additional bags of organics per week through Waste Management. Larger landscaping projects may require separate hauling. Review the city's solid waste services before transporting branches or landscaping debris.

  • Bonelli Park boating access. If you're hauling a boat or personal watercraft to Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park, check the lake's operating schedule and launch requirements. All vessels must pass a quagga mussel and safety inspection and receive a launch permit before entering Puddingstone Reservoir. Boat and trailer parking arrangements should be confirmed before departure.

  • Get your questions answered. Review the trailer listing and submit a rental request on towlos to connect with the Host and confirm any remaining details before pickup.

Common Reasons to Rent a Trailer in San Dimas

From home renovations and foothill landscaping to boating, equestrian activities, and community events, here are common reasons San Dimas renters book a trailer and the types that fit each job.

  • Home renovations. Transport cabinets, flooring, lumber, and suitable remodeling debris from residential properties throughout San Dimas using utility or dump trailers.

  • Foothill landscaping projects. Haul decorative rock, mulch, soil, tree trimmings, and landscaping equipment to homes near San Dimas Canyon and the surrounding foothills using utility or dump trailers. Check payload limits before transporting heavy materials.

  • Moving furniture. Move furniture, mattresses, boxes, and household belongings between homes, apartments, and storage facilities in San Dimas, Glendora, and nearby La Verne using an enclosed cargo trailer.

  • Construction and contractor work. Carry building materials, tools, and jobsite equipment to residential and commercial projects throughout San Dimas and the eastern San Gabriel Valley using utility, equipment, or enclosed trailers.

  • Puddingstone Reservoir boating. Transport boats, kayaks, and approved recreational watercraft to Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park using an appropriately rated boat or utility trailer. Confirm launch permits, inspections, and current boating restrictions before arriving.

  • Vehicle transportation. Move classic cars, motorcycles, project vehicles, or non-running vehicles using a properly rated car hauler or motorcycle trailer.

  • Property and garage cleanouts. Remove unwanted furniture, stored household items, and suitable landscaping debris using utility or dump trailers. Arrange proper disposal for materials excluded from the city's bulky collection program.

  • Horsethief Canyon Park recreation. Transport mountain bikes, sports equipment, picnic supplies, and approved event materials to Horsethief Canyon Park. The park features trails, an equestrian arena, picnic facilities, and athletic fields. Confirm trailer parking and unloading arrangements before arriving.

  • Equestrian activities. Transport horses and riding equipment to designated equestrian facilities and trails using a properly equipped horse trailer. The city's multi-use trail system connects foothill recreation areas and requires cyclists and hikers to yield to equestrians.

  • Community events and equipment deliveries. Carry approved tables, tents, decorations, displays, and event supplies for gatherings at local parks and recreation facilities using enclosed cargo or utility trailers. Confirm reservations, parking, and unloading arrangements before traveling.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to rent a trailer in San Dimas?
Daily rates on towlos typically range from $35 to $120 depending on trailer type and size. Utility trailers are the most affordable; enclosed, dump, and specialty trailers cost more. Prices are set by individual owners, and many offer weekly or multi-day discounts.
How do I book a trailer on towlos?
Search by location and dates, browse available trailers, and submit a booking request. The owner confirms availability and payment is processed securely. You'll receive pickup details once confirmed, most rentals are locked in within an hour.
Is damage insurance provided on towlos?
Yes. Every booking on towlos with an eligible trailer is backed by towlos Protect+, which provides coverage for physical damage to the trailer during your rental. Coverage details and limits are shown on the booking page. Review the towlos Insurance page if you have questions about what's included.
Do I need additional insurance to rent a trailer?
Requirements vary by owner. Some carry their own coverage; others ask renters to show proof of auto insurance. Check the listing details or message the owner before booking. Towlos Protect+ covers damage to the trailer, but your auto policy may be needed for liability.
What kind of hitch do I need?
Most utility trailers use a standard 2" ball hitch. Car haulers and heavier trailers may require a 2-5/16" ball. Check the listing specs and confirm with the owner that your vehicle's hitch class and tow rating are compatible before booking.
What size trailer do I need for a one-bedroom apartment move?
A 6×10 or 6×12 open utility trailer handles most one-bedroom moves, furniture, boxes, and appliances. If you have bulky items or a large couch, consider a 7×14 or larger. When in doubt, size up, it's easier to have extra space than to make two trips.
Do towlos hosts offer delivery in the San Dimas area?
Some do. When searching, look for listings that mention delivery or message the owner directly. Delivery is especially useful if you don't have a truck or hitch set up. Many local hosts are flexible and happy to arrange drop-off for an additional fee.
Can I rent a trailer one-way?
Most towlos rentals are round-trip, you pick up and return the trailer to the same owner. Some owners allow one-way arrangements; contact them directly to ask. If you're relocating, it's worth messaging a few hosts to see who can accommodate.
