“Trailer was great. We took it on a 4,500 mile journey We had some circumstantial issues on the road with the trailer. We lost a few lugs (and almost a tire) so we had to pay $800 for a mobilehub / stud repair in UT Separate from that, we hit some highway debris in AZ and broke a fender and some wiring. We came to a quick resolution with the owner on the repairs and he was more than reasonable. Nice trailer. Tough trip. ”

Choosing the Right Trailer to Rent in Covina

Covina's downtown parking rules and construction-waste requirements can affect where you take a rental trailer and how you use it. Before hauling household belongings, renovation materials, or vendor supplies, check your parking arrangements, disposal plans, and loading space. Run through these before you send a rental request.

  • Size and capacity: match deck length and payload to your biggest item, and leave room to strap it down safely.

  • Weight and brakes: stay within the trailer's rated load and your vehicle's tow rating, and keep tongue weight around 10 to 15 percent of the total. Under California Vehicle Code Section 26302, qualifying trailers manufactured and first registered after January 1, 1966, with a gross weight of 3,000 pounds or more generally require brakes on at least 2 wheels.

  • Overnight parking: Covina generally prohibits street parking between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. without a valid permit. Review the city's parking information and confirm whether your tow vehicle and trailer are permitted before leaving them on a public street.

  • Construction debris recycling: Covina requires 75% recycling or reuse for covered construction and demolition projects, along with a pre-project recycling plan and post-project compliance report. Check whether your renovation requires these documents before arranging debris hauling.

  • Downtown loading access: Heritage Plaza Park hosts Covina's Friday evening Farmers Market. Check approved vendor unloading locations and nearby parking restrictions before bringing a trailer onto or near Citrus Avenue.

  • Hitch, chains, and wiring: confirm the ball size (usually 2 inches, or 2-5/16 for heavier trailers), your hitch class, and that the trailer's plug matches your vehicle. Cross the safety chains under the tongue.

  • Ramps and loading: for anything you roll or drive on, check for a ramp gate or low deck height; for tall or awkward loads, check deck width and tie-down points.

  • Open vs. enclosed: open trailers load fast and cost less; enclosed trailers protect cargo from Southern California's dust, seasonal winds, and occasional heavy rain.

  • Get your questions answered: check the listing details first, and ask Toby, the towlos virtual assistant, anything else. After you submit a rental request, you can message the Host in towlos Chat to confirm dimensions, hitch, delivery, and anything specific to your load before they approve it.

Common Reasons to Rent a Trailer in Covina

Whether you're delivering produce to the Farmers Market at Heritage Plaza, moving furniture across the San Gabriel Valley, or preparing for a gathering at Hollenbeck Park, these are the most common reasons Covina renters book a trailer, and the type that fits each job.

  • Farmers Market deliveries. Heritage Plaza Park hosts Covina's Friday Farmers Market on North Citrus Avenue. Enclosed cargo trailers can protect vendor merchandise, while utility trailers carry display materials, tables, and equipment for approved sellers.

  • Home renovations and remodeling. Residents replacing flooring, roofing, fencing, or cabinetry can use utility trailers for building supplies and dump trailers for eligible debris. Check Covina's construction-waste recycling rules and approved disposal facilities before hauling.

  • Furniture and household moves. Enclosed cargo trailers are useful for moving furniture, appliances, boxes, and household belongings around Covina and neighboring communities. Utility trailers accommodate oversized items that can be properly secured.

  • Landscaping and yard cleanup. Dump and utility trailers can transport soil, gravel, mulch, plants, branches, and landscaping equipment. Secure loose materials and separate recyclable yard waste from other debris where required.

  • Sports and recreation at Hollenbeck Park. Hollenbeck Park offers sports fields, basketball and pickleball courts, and picnic facilities. Utility trailers can help authorized teams transport tents, sporting equipment, and supplies.

  • Community gatherings at Heritage Plaza. The plaza includes an outdoor stage and community gathering space. Enclosed trailers can help approved organizers transport decorations, displays, sound equipment, and event supplies.

  • Youth recreation at Wingate Park. Wingate Park has sports fields, courts, and a skating area. Utility trailers can carry sports gear and event materials for authorized activities.

  • Park parties and celebrations. Covina's outdoor facility rental program allows eligible groups to apply for reservations. Small utility trailers can transport decorations and supplies to approved unloading areas after arrangements are confirmed.

  • Contractor tools and machinery. Flatbeds, deckovers, and equipment trailers can transport compact machinery, ladders, lumber, and tools to residential or commercial job sites. Check payload capacity, ramps, and parking arrangements.

  • Cars and motorcycles. Car haulers, motorcycle trailers, and tilt-deck trailers can transport project vehicles, motorcycles, and non-running cars around Covina and surrounding communities. Match the trailer's capacity and loading equipment to the vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to rent a trailer in Covina?
Daily rates on towlos typically range from $35 to $120 depending on trailer type and size. Utility trailers are the most affordable; enclosed, dump, and specialty trailers cost more. Prices are set by individual owners, and many offer weekly or multi-day discounts.
How do I book a trailer on towlos?
Search by location and dates, browse available trailers, and submit a booking request. The owner confirms availability and payment is processed securely. You'll receive pickup details once confirmed, most rentals are locked in within an hour.
Is damage insurance provided on towlos?
Yes. Every booking on towlos with an eligible trailer is backed by towlos Protect+, which provides coverage for physical damage to the trailer during your rental. Coverage details and limits are shown on the booking page. Review the towlos Insurance page if you have questions about what's included.
Do I need additional insurance to rent a trailer?
Requirements vary by owner. Some carry their own coverage; others ask renters to show proof of auto insurance. Check the listing details or message the owner before booking. Towlos Protect+ covers damage to the trailer, but your auto policy may be needed for liability.
What kind of hitch do I need?
Most utility trailers use a standard 2" ball hitch. Car haulers and heavier trailers may require a 2-5/16" ball. Check the listing specs and confirm with the owner that your vehicle's hitch class and tow rating are compatible before booking.
What size trailer do I need for a one-bedroom apartment move?
A 6×10 or 6×12 open utility trailer handles most one-bedroom moves, furniture, boxes, and appliances. If you have bulky items or a large couch, consider a 7×14 or larger. When in doubt, size up, it's easier to have extra space than to make two trips.
Do towlos hosts offer delivery in the Covina area?
Some do. When searching, look for listings that mention delivery or message the owner directly. Delivery is especially useful if you don't have a truck or hitch set up. Many local hosts are flexible and happy to arrange drop-off for an additional fee.
Can I rent a trailer one-way?
Most towlos rentals are round-trip, you pick up and return the trailer to the same owner. Some owners allow one-way arrangements; contact them directly to ask. If you're relocating, it's worth messaging a few hosts to see who can accommodate.
