From film sets to harbor launches, fire-zone rebuilds, and desert weekends, these are the most common reasons Los Angeles renters book a trailer, and the type that fits each job.

• Film and production. FilmLA counted nearly 19,700 shoot days in 2025, and California's expanded film tax credit is bringing more productions back. Cargo and enclosed trailers haul gear, wardrobe, and props between stages and locations.
• Rebuilding and brush clearance. The January 2025 Eaton and Palisades fires destroyed more than 16,000 structures, and rebuilding keeps flatbeds and dump trailers busy. LAFD also sets a spring brush clearance deadline each year in fire-prone areas.
• Boats and watercraft. Tow a boat, jet ski, or kayak with a boat or dual-purpose utility trailer. The Marina del Rey launch ramp charges by the day with a trailer, Long Beach runs several public ramps, and Castaic Lake requires a mussel inspection on the way out.
• Moving and big hauls. Move an apartment, furniture, or a small office across town with an enclosed or utility trailer. USC moves in each August and UCLA each September.
• Vehicles and motorsports. Move a car, motorcycle, or race car with an open or enclosed car hauler. The Grand Prix of Long Beach runs each April, and Willow Springs in Rosamond bills itself as America's oldest permanent road course.
• Powersports and off-road. Get dirt bikes and ATVs to the trails with a utility trailer or toy hauler. Hungry Valley SVRA near Gorman is open through its north entrance with a daily vehicle cap, and the Angeles National Forest has more than 360 miles of OHV routes.
• Equestrian. Haul horses to shows and trails with a horse trailer. The Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank has more than 500 stalls and hosts over 50 events a year, right next to the Griffith Park trails.
• Beaches and camping. Tow a travel trailer to Dockweiler RV Park on the coast (40 feet max) or up the coast toward Leo Carrillo and Malibu.
• Construction and heavy equipment. Move skid steers, mini excavators, and building materials with a flatbed, deckover, or gooseneck trailer built for heavy, oversized loads.
• Vending, events, and mobile business. Concession, display, and cargo trailers turn into food stands, pop-up shops, and mobile workspaces for LA markets, festivals, and job sites. Food trailers need an LA County health permit and a commissary.
