Recently, a towlos guest rented Charlie’s enclosed trailer to transport a vintage Buick to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. The car was 18 feet long and 78 inches tall, so the guest needed a large trailer that could safely fit the vehicle. Charlie’s trailer was the right fit for the job.
According to the guest, the Buick was a huge hit at the event. The trailer also came in handy throughout the weekend, including during rainy weather when it was used as a makeshift garage to keep the car protected. The guest shared, “The trailer was plenty tall for the 78-inch Buick and towed rock-steady the whole way.”
But on the road, the rental hit an unexpected issue.
While fully loaded, the guest hit a chunk of semi-truck tire tread on the highway. With a large setup including the truck, trailer, and Buick, the guest explained that the rig could not change lanes quickly enough to avoid it. The impact damaged the front of the trailer and broke one of the welds supporting the trailer’s strength and structure.
The damage was not ideal for anyone, but this is exactly where Protect+ came in handy.
Charlie submitted the damage information, noting that the trailer’s support brace had broken off and would need to be repaired. He explained, “One of the welds that supports the trailer’s strength and infrastructure broke and will have to be fixed.”
The repair estimate came in above the $500 security deposit, and a Protect+ claim was submitted for the remaining damage amount.
The guest took accountability for the damage and shared that the tire tread was unavoidable. He also said he was glad to have Protect+ and the peace of mind that came with it. Most importantly, he wanted to make sure Charlie was fully taken care of and not left short on the repair.
The guest shared, “I’m glad I had Protect+ for exactly this kind of thing.”
In this case, the $500 deductible was deducted from the security deposit, and Protect+ helped cover the balance of the eligible repair. The claim was resolved on July 23, 2026.
