Inside the Chaos: What the 24 Hours of Lemons Is All About

If you’ve never heard of the 24 Hours of Lemons, here’s the short version: it’s endurance racing without the ego. Built on creativity, humor, and barely-legal race cars, Lemons is one of the most entertaining motorsports events you’ll ever watch and yes, towlos will be there this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park.

So… what is the 24 Hours of Lemons?

The 24 Hours of Lemons is an amateur endurance racing series where teams compete in cars that cost $500 or less (safety gear excluded). The result? Absolute chaos, in the best way possible.

Cars are slow, loud, questionable, and often held together with zip ties and hope. Teams show up in costumes, decorate their cars with wild themes, and embrace the fact that this race is just as much about fun as it is about finishing.

The races typically run over two days, combining multiple hours of on-track time, pit strategy, mechanical problem-solving, and a lot of laughs in the paddock.

It’s not just racing — it’s a vibe

What really sets Lemons apart is the culture. The judges reward teams for creativity, bad ideas executed brilliantly, and pure commitment to the bit. There are penalties, gag awards, absurd trophies, and no shortage of storytelling by the end of the weekend.

You’ll see:

  • Ridiculous car themes
  • DIY engineering at its finest (and worst)
  • Drivers swapping stints nonstop
  • Teams fixing cars in the paddock between sessions
  • Fans and racers hanging out together like one big garage family

In short: it’s grassroots motorsports at its most fun.

Towlos at Barber Motorsports Park

This weekend, towlos is heading to Barber to be part of the action, and we’re proud to be sponsoring one of the most iconic Lemons themes out there: the Waffle House car.

If you know Lemons, you know this fits perfectly. Questionable decisions? Long nights? Things held together under pressure? Sounds like late-night Waffle House energy to us.

We’ll be on-site soaking it all in, the cars, the people, the trailers, and the stories that only events like Lemons can create.

Why Lemons matters to Towlos

At its core, towlos exists to support people who do stuff with their vehicles, racers, builders, weekend warriors, and anyone hauling something they care about.

Events like the 24 Hours of Lemons are exactly why trailer access matters. These teams don’t need luxury rigs. They need reliable equipment, flexibility, and a community that gets it. That’s the heart of grassroots motorsports, and it’s a big part of why towlos shows up.

If you’re going to Barber this weekend…

Come say hey. Check out the Waffle House car. Wander the paddock. Ask questions. Laugh at the terrible ideas that somehow made it to the track.

And if you’re not there in person, keep an eye on towlos, we’ll be sharing plenty from the weekend.

Because sometimes motorsports isn’t about being the fastest.
Sometimes it’s about finishing, having fun, and hauling your lemon to the track any way you can. 🍋🏁
